he was majoring in journalism with hopes of graduating in 2014 and become a comic journalist. it was really one of the only majors that the university of miami offered that he could actually use in the future. it was his only option. just like the university of miami itself. it was one of the few colleges that had accepted him. discouraging, perhaps, but this was seth. seth was the king of denial. not that he was aware of it.
he had, after all, moved to miami with his best friend of fifteen years completely in denial of - or complete unaware - of the things that could mean. i mean, what sort of boy young man has a female best friend of fifteen years that gave up ivy league to move over a thousand miles away from home to go to a - in comparison to the schools she could have gone to - slacker's college.. and thinks that's normal. obviously, seth was clueless. it didn't make him any less lovable, though.
he was an all around good guy. he could see the good in anything and was happy to share that perspective with anyone who needed it. and he had the biggest heart and the greatest sense of humor. and that was what he loved about lily, his best friend. she knew it all. and she accepted him just as he was. and he accepted her just as she was.
hey, he said hopping over the back of the couch of the common room of the girls floor of their dormitory building. he had noticed the back of her head, covered in her flaxen curls that bounced every time her pen moved from one line to the next on the lined paper of her notebook. seth was putting his homework off until, most likely, midnight. that wasn't lily's style, though. i have a pizza on the way, so you should hurry up and finish that so was can eat together. i'm starving, he grinned at her. he was always "starving".

[atrb=width,400] you belong with me Lily sat in her literature class. It was not the place she wanted to be in at this moment. Actually she just didn’t like literature. Most of the time, she loved to read, just loved it. It took her to another world where she could escape the madness of college life. Except they were reading some book that was then dissected. Lily could care less about the book. She’d rather dissect someone’s psyche. And that was Lily. She was so interested in the mind. Just how people think and why they did what they did in the past. What makes a person tick? What made a person? This book had none of those elements. She just ended up dropping her head onto the table at was at. They were sent into groups. The people she got, well she went to a couple of parties with them. Not exactly the people she wanted to be grouped with, but all of them were beaming with happiness for getting Miss Genius who told off the professor the first day of school. If someone could point out a professor’s mistake and error, had to have some brains apparently.
The class was way too long, even for Lily. The blonde picked up all her things in a hurry. She was done with it, not to mention she had a ton of homework to get done. There was introduction to criminology, psychology, calculus, then her literature class, before she could even think about chemistry. Anyone would explode, but not Lily. She worked at her best when pushed. She was always involved in things and she always got them done. It was a surprise that she chose UM as her school. She had Brown and Stanford fighting over her. But here she was making her way to her dorm in Miami. Why? All cause she fell for her best friend in high school, she could not bear leaving him.
They made a pack, and Lily was going to follow it through and through. She was loyal to her friends and had something more lacked, integrity. Miss Lily finally made it into the dorm and plopped herself onto one of the couches. In two hours, her notebook or well backpack had exploded. Papers and pens and books were just everywhere around her. Her pencil had a ton of bite marks and she was leaning back into the couch when Seth came out of nowhere, but she didn’t jump, she was use to it.
Lily looked over her shoulder to see those beautiful hazel eyes. She smiled, “Hi Seth.” She was about to ask what he was doing here but it was soon answered. She laughed and shook her head. “I hate to be the one to tell you this, but Seth, you are always hungry and I’m afraid it’s for life.” She looked down at her notepad and around her. “This will not be done in the time it takes the pizza to get here.” She let herself fall sideways onto her papers crumbling them. “Why didn’t you say “Hey Lils you’re gonna blow up doing all those classes’?” Lily looked up at him and raised an eyebrow. Lily finally sighed and pushed herself up. She collected her papers and stuffed them in the appropriate books before piling them up and cradling them. “Lemme put these in my room and then we can eat.” She began to walk off before turning towards him. “If the pizza gets here before I do, don’t you dare touch a slice until I come back, ‘cause once you start, I’ll never get my two.” She teased and headed up to her room.
Lily dumped her books onto her bed and looked at herself in the mirror. Her makeup was all still fresh and set and her curls were still in place. She smiled at herself and headed right back into the commons.
